Horse judging gives youth the opportunity to learn how to evaluate a horse based on confirmation and performance. The 5 basic characteristics of horse judging are balance, structure and way of moving, muscling, quality and breed/sex characteristics. This is a useful skill to have as a 4-Her because it teaches confidence, communication skills, and decision making. These workshops will help to prepare you for horse judging competitions and also improve critical thinking skills.

We will be offering horse judging workshops starting Monday, October 17th at 7PM in the CCE Conference Room. Practices will provide the basic skills necessary to evaluate a horse. This is open to EVERYONE in 4-H, whether they are involved in the Lewis County 4-H horse program or not. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required. No experience necessary, bring a friend!
