Economic Benefits of Persistent Biocontrol Nematodes & Extreme Weather Events and Maintaining Forage Quality

Biocontrol nematodes are microscopic round worms in the soil which only attack insects in the soil or on the soil surface.

  • Speakers: Mike Hunter, Field Crops, CCE North Country Regional Ag Team & Joe Lawrence; Pro Dairy Forage Systems Management, Sr. Extension Associate. 
  • Learn how biocontrol nematodes work, how to apply and timing. 
  • Look at the research done at Musgrave Research Farm in Aurora on biocontrol nematodes. 
  • Find out where you can get Biocontrol Nematodes which are adapted to NY and will persist across growing seasons. 
  • Assessing forage crop damage from recent weather events, flood, hail, and wind damage Refreshments and donuts will be provided.
