NYS Cut Flower Conference

The local cut flower scene is growing and ever changing. This program is part of the Cornell Program Work Team on Cut Flowers and is offering the first ever NYS Cut Flower Conference. This two-day event will feature presentations by Cornell Faculty, Cooperative Extension Educators and Cut Flower Growers. Plus, a tour to Trademarks Farm, Clifton Springs, NY.

On day one we will hear from Jenny Marks, owner/operator of Trademarks Farm and Northeast Region Director of the Cut Flower Growers Association as she addresses “Crop Scheduling and Planning”. CCE educator Steve Hadcock, Beginning Farmer and Market Development Specialist, will address and demonstrate a new price calculator tool being developed through a grant to assist growers in pricing their cut flowers and helping them make other critical business decisions. This will be an interactive presentation. Dr. Bill Miller, Cornell University, School of Integrative Plant Science, Research Director, who will be addressing Flowering Bulbs as Cut Flowers. A grower panel will round out the day followed by a fun Iron Chef style participant flower arranging competition. There will also be a one-on-one session for growers to get acquainted with using the price calculator.

Day two we start off with “Growing Perennial/Climate Resilient Plants and Native Plants for Cut Flowers” presented by Fran Parrish, owner/operator of Heirloom Soul Florals, cut flower grower and wedding florist. Followed by a tour of Trademarks Farm.

$50 for both days or $30 for one day
