The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis County 4-H Tractor Safety Course provides essential safety training for youth ages 14 and older. This program is designed to prepare young workers for safe equipment operation during the upcoming agricultural season.

Youth who are not currently members of the Lewis County 4-H program may complete their enrollment at the time of registration.

Federal Certification Requirements

**Federal law requires the certification of youth under the age of 16 who operate tractors off property owned/leased by their parents. If youth plan to work on a farm, they need to hold this certification. **

2026 Course Schedule

To receive a certificate of completion, participants are required to attend all four instructional sessions as well as the final Test Day.

  • Tuesday, April 7, 2026: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at CCE Lewis in Lowville
  • Tuesday, April 14, 2026: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Location to be determined)
  • Tuesday, April 21, 2026: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Location to be determined)
